Diman track teams sweep Holbrook and Atlantis Charter

FALL RIVER — Diman’s boys’ and girls’ athletics teams each opened the spring season in style on Thursday, sweeping Atlantis Charter and Holbrook at Diman Regional Technical High School.

Here is an overview of the results:

BOYS OUTDOOR TRACK

Sunday 116, Holbrook 14

DIman 115, Atlantis Charter 15

The Bengals swept both duels against Holbrook and Atlantis Charter.

Will Ferreira was a double winner for Diman (2-0) in the mile and 2 miles. Jacob Chouinard won the 400m hurdles and the triple jump. He also placed second in the 110 hurdles.

Nate Nascimento won the 200 and was second in the 100. Ezra Cote won the 800 and Josh Ramos won the high jump. Jacob Monte finished first in the 110 hurdles and second in the 400 hurdles and javelin.

GIRL’S OUTDOOR TRACK

Sun 112, Atlantis Charter 17

The Lady Bengals swept their double encounter against Holbrook and Atlantis Charter in the season opener on Thursday.

Inez Medeiros was a triple winner for Diman (2-0) in the 100 (13.32), 200 (28.5) and long jump (12’11”).

Emily Gonzalez took first place in the 400 hurdles (1:17), first place in the 100 hurdles (19.53) and third place in the long jump (12’4″). Julia Latour-Brum (javelin, 75’2 “, and 400 meters, 1:25) and Kaitlyn Nickelson (high jump, 4’10” and triple jump, 27’4″) were double winners.

Other Bengal winners include Song Samuel Holmes (discus, 59’6″), Katie Miranda (shot put (20’9″), Grace Flattery (mile, 7:41), Raeleigh Levesque (2 mile, 15:28 ) and Eden McCausland (800 meters, 3:00).

Diman takes on Bishop Connolly on April 14.

BOYS TENNIS

Bishop Connolly 3, Wareham 0

The Cougars won their first game of the season against non-league opponent Wareham.

Evan Kidd won in straight sets in the first singles for Connolly, 6-0, 6-2. Alex Krynicki won the third singles, 6-2, 6-3.

Ben Costa and Henry Keane won their second doubles match, 6-2, 7-5.

The Cougars (1-0) host Durfee on Friday.

GIRLS TENNIS

Wareham 5, Bishop Connolly 0

The Lady Cougars dropped their season opener against non-league opponent Wareham.
