Stolen Veterans Grave Markers at Atlantic City Cemetery in Pleasantville | Local News

PLEASANTVILLE — Veterans’ grave markers were stolen from a Pleasantville cemetery, according to a police news release on Thursday.

The Atlantic City Cemetery, located off Black Horse Pike in Pleasantville, is missing several bronze headstones.

Headstones honored several veterans who had been interred on the property.

Pleasantville Police Captain Stacey Schlachter said in an email to The Press of Atlantic City and other media that the exact number of stolen headstones is still undetermined.

One of the grave makers was recovered from a scrap yard, police said.

The Pleasantville Police Department is asking for public assistance in connection with the theft. Those with information that could lead to the recovery of the headstones are asked to contact Det. Jamal Roy at Jroy@pleasantvillepd.org or (609) 641-6100.
