The renovation of Atlantis Paradise Island continues with the renovation of the royal towers

Atlantis Paradise Island’s sweeping renovation of the sprawling mega-resort continues after delays caused by the 2020 pandemic outbreak. Currently focused on royal family towers, the project is revitalizing the luxury Bahamian property with a new Contemporary furnishings, services and amenities designed to complement the mega resort’s original ‘lost city of Atlantis’ inspiration.

“We completed the Coral Towers and the Cove in 2018, the Reef in 2019 and our next project was the Royal,” Adderly said, predicting that the complete renovation of the East and West Wings of the Royal Tower will be completed by December. first quarter of 2023. “In May 2022, we will complete the east wing [renovations]. Then we will move to the west wing,” he said.

“When you look at the royal towers, they were designed around the [concept of] the lost city of Atlantis,” Adderly said, citing the resort’s whimsical decor and emphasis on activities and attractions related to the Bahamas’ spectacular marine environment. “But what you see today is more contemporary.”

As was the case before the ongoing renovation, Royal Tower accommodations are at the center of the mega-resort and multiple room sizes and configurations meant to appeal to families, but suitable for almost any guest. All rooms in the wing include the resort’s famous Bridge Suite, featured in numerous movies and TV productions.

The Royal Towers is also revamping its upscale accommodations, including its 10-bedroom 4,470-square-foot VIP Suite, featuring a 1,250-square-foot lounge with a grand piano, two entertainment centers, a dining room lit by a 22 carat gold chandelier and several spacious bedrooms.

Other main categories being renovated include the Regal Suites in the Royal Tower, measuring from 957 to 1,692 square feet with views of the Caribbean, Atlantis Harbor and Marina, and the Grand Suites, measuring from 1 305 to 1,921 square feet with opulent master bedrooms overlooking the beach.

Beyond upgraded furniture, bedding and decorative accents, Royal Towers room renovations include upgrades including phone and UBS outlets installed on bedside tables and desks, plus resort amenities app-based. New technology and new services make Atlantis “a destination in itself where you can find what you need,” Adderly said.

In addition to renovated accommodations, Atlantis Paradise Island continues to offer an array of on-site activities. Aquaventure offers 141 acres of water attractions, with a mile-long lazy river and eight water slides highlighted by the jumpy Leap of Faith, which plunges 60 feet in a transparent tube through a shark-filled lagoon .

The Dig is home to 50,000 aquatic animals in 14 lagoons with large windows and transparent tunnels. The 250 marine species include sharks, rays, barracudas, piranhas, eels, French angelfish, parrotfish, butterflyfish and squirrelfish.

Atlantis’ multiple kitchen options are in the spotlight this year. The property recently completed Taste of Paradise, a two-week food and wine festival that included special dinners hosted by celebrity chefs Nobu Matsuhisa, Michael White Todd English, and Julie Lightbourne.

The festival highlighted Atlantis’ fine dining restaurants including Café Martinique, Carmine’s, Chop Stix, Frankie Gone Bananas, Seafire, Olives, Fish by Jose Andres and Nobu, as well as casual eateries such as Sip Sip, Burger Shack, McKenzie’s Fresh Conch, Pirate Republic. and Marina Pizzeria.

The event also featured pop-up entertainment experiences focusing on local culture and authentic dishes and is an extension of the resort’s “EAT: Extraordinary Atlantis Taste” restaurant week series.
