The No. 19 Auburn men’s basketball team faced No. 22 UConn on Wednesday in the first round of the 2021 Battle 4 Atlantis tournament at Atlantis, Paradise Island Resort in the Bahamas.
The Huskies defeated the Tigers 115-109 in double overtime.
UConn improved to 5-0 with the victory and will next face Michigan State in the second round of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament at 11 a.m. CT Thursday.
Auburn fell to 3-1 with the loss and will next face Loyola Chicago in the losers’ bracket at 1:30 p.m. CT Thursday.

UConn’s Adama Sanogo blocks Auburn’s KD Johnson in overtime
Auburn guard KD Johnson had a huge game against the Huskies on Wednesday, but that shot was blocked by UConn’s Adama Sanogo. The dismissal kept UConn’s lead secure at 92-91 in the first overtime period.
Auburn vs. UConn head to overtime in Battle 4 Atlantis 2021 after end of two-way settlement
Auburn was leading 81-80 with 19.8 seconds left in the second half when UConn’s RJ Cole missed a free throw that would have tied the game. The Huskies got the rebound and fed the ball to Tyler Polley, who made a 3-pointer to give the team the lead.
At the other end of the field, Auburn’s KD Johnson drove the ball through a few defenders and converted a layup to tie the game at 83-83, where it would be at the end of regulation.
Auburn’s Walker Kessler block leads to Devan Cambridge’s 3-point transition
As UConn looked to extend their lead, Auburn’s Walker Kessler fended off an Adama Sanogo layup. One of Kessler’s teammates came with the loose ball, and it ended up in the hands of Devan Cambridge, who drained a 3-point corner to cut the Huskies lead to 56-48 in the second half.
UConn’s Tyrese Martin throws a dunk on a fast break against Auburn
Tyrese Martin edged past Auburn defenders on an early Huskies break and hammered a dunk through an assist from Andre Jackson. The score gave UConn a 56-41 lead over the Tigers in the second half.
UConn’s Adama Sanogo fouls on layup to extend Huskies lead
UConn sophomore Adama Sanogo built the Huskies lead to 51-37 in the second half with a layup and fouled Auburn’s Chris Moore. The bucket took Sanogo to 17 points in the game.
UConn’s Isaiah Whaley blocks Auburn’s Walker Kessler
After UConn rallied to cut Auburn’s lead to 24-23 in the first quarter, Huskies forward Isaiah Whaley denied a layup attempt by Auburn big man Walker Kessler. Whaley headed to the UConn bench after the block and was fired up by his teammates and coaches.
Auburn’s Wendell Green Jr. buries 3 points deep to put Tigers up 11
Auburn sophomore guard Wendell Green Jr. gave the Tigers an 11-point gain in the first quarter by burying a 3-pointer just past the midfield logo. The big bucket prompted UConn to call a timeout on their next possession.
