CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI — Daniel Cousins has announced his candidacy for a seat on Charlottetown City Council in Ward 5 – Charlottetown for the upcoming municipal election in November.
Cousins said he spent his summer knocking on doors in the Charlottetown community.
During his door-to-door tour, he learned about the issues the community is concerned about, from safer roads to better transparency in government, housing and more.
“Meeting my community and talking about issues that matter to them has been an amazing experience,” he said.
“Learning about the amazing and diverse community and what matters to them has helped me become a better politician and neighbor.”
Last January, Cousins fell from a large ice dam at the intersection of University Avenue and Buchanan Drive, leading him to say enough was enough.
He then took a shovel and dug a path through that night, so that pedestrians could cross the street safely.
“It is appalling that such an issue has been left for weeks. This is a clear message from our city that it does not prioritize the safety of our citizens. »
Cousins was unable to visit every home, and due to election rules, he was unable to visit secure apartment buildings.
To combat this, he asked people to email him at [email protected] or message him on Twitter @Daniel4Ward5 to answer any questions Ward 5 may have.
