Syracuse basketball will need to be at the top of its game, and more, if the Orange are to take the 2021 Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis, a tournament they won a few years ago.
VCU is first for the ‘Cuse in this annual pre-season tournament which takes place over the Thanksgiving holiday, according to a press release from the Orange Athletics Department.
Syracuse Basketball will take on VCU on Nov. 24 from the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. According to cuse.com, the Orange are 3-0 against the Rams, a very good team that had a magical run to the Final Four in the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
A season ago, VCU qualified for the Big Dance, but the Rams were unfortunately unable to play their March Madness contest due to Covid-19 protocols.
Syracuse basketball has a formidable task looming in the Battle 4 Atlantis 2021.
According to an article by Mike Waters of Syracuse.com, the ‘Cuse is located on the same side of the Battle 4 Atlantis stand as Baylor and Arizona State.
This means that if Orange is able to conquer VCU, Syracuse basketball could potentially adapt to Baylor in the next round. The Bears cut the nets at the end of the 2021 NCAA Tournament, and they’re among the top 10 preseason teams heading into the upcoming term, according to many national tipsters.
On the other side of the board, Big Ten Conference powerhouse Michigan State will face Loyola Chicago, while Auburn will face former Big East Conference rival Connecticut.
Loyola Chicago made the 2021 Sweet 16 after blowing out No. 1 Illinois in the Round of 16, while the Spartans and Huskies received invites to last spring’s March Madness.
Looking to the 2021-22 stanza, Michigan State, Auburn and UConn are all included in various preseason top-25 rankings.
In Battle 4 Atlantis 2021, the ‘Cuse will compete in three games as part of a fearsome non-conference roster. Syracuse basketball won that tournament crown in 2015, beating top-25 foes Connecticut and Texas A&M along the way, during the same season when the Orange reached the Final Four.
