Following this month’s success Stargate SG-1 AI table reading, Atlantis Stargate is in turn in the spotlight.
The Companion announced today that its third event in the popular live-streaming series will be “Stargate AI: Atlantis”. Cast members will meet online to do a table reading of a new (and unofficial) script, but it’s not one that was written by the crack team of actual human writers – who wrote the show for his 5th birthday, from 2004 to 2009.
Instead, this script is written by artificial intelligence, thanks to the technical work of Google AI lawyer Laurence Moroney.
The event will be streamed for Companion members this summer.
While The Companion’s latest Stargate AI event featured a SG-1 cast reunion (Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping and Michael Shanks), IA’s first table reading last fall of the two shows’ mixed cast members. This included Atlantis co-stars David Hewlett (“Rodney McKay”) and Jewel Staite (“Jennifer Keller”).
Take a look at previous events in the videos below.
The series of AI models built for the project have been fueled by every script in the TV franchise – and it continues to get more sophisticated. The first Stargate AI event featured rambling scenes and character interactions with dialogue that often veered into the absurd. But the second take this spring revealed much more cohesive script pages.
It’s not yet known who will be joining the “Stargate AI: Atlantis” event, but we’ll let you know as soon as it’s announced! In the meantime, check out TheCompanion.app for the first two Stargate AI videos, plus more sci-fi content.
